Guided DIY Experience
The BC Lab provides guided DIY self-care and creative experiences for recreational and personal-use purposes.
During the experience, our team will provide:

Step-by-step guidance

Safety reminders

Support during the activity

Packaging guidance
-
Take-home care instructions when applicable
Guests are expected to:

Follow staff instructions
-
Use tools and materials only as directed
-
Use only the approved quantities
-
Avoid unapproved substitutions
-
Ask questions when unsure
-
Keep food, beverages, and personal belongings away from product-making stations
-
Report spills, breakage, discomfort, or safety concerns immediately

Review take-home instructions before using a finished product
The BC Lab may modify, limit, pause, or end participation when reasonably necessary to protect safety, product quality, guest comfort, studio property, or the experience of others.
Ingredients, Allergies, and Sensitivities
Experiences may involve ingredients or materials such as:

Cosmetic ingredients

Guests should review the available ingredient information and notify The BC Lab before participating if they have:

A concern about a specific ingredient

Although The BC Lab follows approved cleaning and handling procedures, we cannot guarantee that an ingredient, fragrance, product, or shared studio environment will be suitable for every person.
If irritation, dizziness, discomfort, swelling, respiratory symptoms, or another concern occurs:

Stop using the product or material.

Notify a team member immediately.

Seek appropriate medical care when needed.
External Use and Medical Questions
Unless expressly stated otherwise, workshop-made skincare, body-care, fragrance, and cosmetic products are intended for external use only.

Continued use after irritation or discomfort occurs

The BC Lab does not provide medical advice and cannot determine whether a product or experience is medically appropriate for a particular condition, allergy, pregnancy, nursing, infant use, or child use.

Candle-Making Experiences
Candle-making may involve hot wax, warm tools, fragrance materials, and glass vessels.
Guests participating in a candle-making activity must:

Follow staff instructions

Avoid touching hot wax or heated equipment
-
Avoid moving vessels unless directed
-
Keep personal belongings away from the workstation
-
Report spills immediately
-
Ask for help when unsure
-
Allow the candle to cool and set as instructed

Follow the recommended rest period before burning
-
Review the candle-care card before use
Before burning a workshop-made candle:

Place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface
-
Keep it away from drafts and flammable materials
-
Keep it away from children and pets
-
Never leave it burning unattended
-
Extinguish it before leaving the room or going to sleep

Follow the wick-trimming and burn-time instructions provided

Stop use if the vessel is cracked, damaged, or behaving unexpectedly
CPSC advises consumers to keep candles away from materials that can catch fire, never leave burning candles unattended, and extinguish candles before leaving a room or going to sleep.
Take-Home Product Responsibility
Workshop-made products are handcrafted during a guided experience.
After leaving the studio, the guest is responsible for:

Transporting the product carefully

Following the care card
-
Following storage instructions
-
Using the product only as directed
-
Keeping the product away from children and pets when appropriate
-
Avoiding contamination
-
Avoiding unapproved changes
-
Discontinuing use if the product appears damaged, altered, contaminated, or unsuitable for use

Contacting The BC Lab promptly with questions or concerns
Minor variations in appearance, scent intensity, texture, color, or decorative placement may occur in handcrafted products. These differences do not automatically mean that a product is defective.
Minors
Age requirements vary by experience.
When minors are permitted to participate:

A parent, legal guardian, or approved responsible adult may be required to remain present

The accompanying adult is responsible for appropriate supervision
-
Children must follow staff instructions
-
Children should remain in approved areas
-
Certain tools, ingredients, or hands-on steps may be limited
-
The BC Lab may modify or end participation when reasonably necessary for safety
A parent or legal guardian should complete the acknowledgment for a participating minor when required.
